I made a quick stop to Eunilane Grocery in Kalayaan Avenue for some chichiria and to get Lorie her Hi-Ro (but mostly for some chichiria). Chips go with dip, so I hauled myself over to that section and found this:
Hmm, maybe they really have lots of it. If they didn’t, they’d probably call it French Onion Shallow.
Then I was off to McDonald’s to get Pancake Breakfasts for 5 people. On the way in, I was asked for barya by this pint - sized panhandler:
I didn’t give him any money then. While I was waiting for my order, though, he walks up to me again and asks me to turn 20 bucks worth of his coins into a bill. I gave him a twenty peso bill and told him to keep his coins.
I wonder, though, did I just give him money for drugs? Or maybe he’ll buy something else with it like junk food, or a plastic toy, or gum? Maybe he’ll panhandle some more so he can buy something more expensive? Anything that he can’t ask his parents for because they can’t afford it?
I just hope it’s not for something bad. This is one of the few times that I’m happy that 20 pesos does NOT go a long way.
